Hilton Central School District Community Education will offer Driver Education that follows current New York State Education Department guidelines.
Theory classes will take place through Zoom and Google Classroom from 9-10:30 a.m. and will be taught by Driver and Traffic Safety Instructor Dora Hayes.
In-car instruction will be conducted by a parent/guardian with a checklist of topics provided by the instructor.
Students must attend every instructional class in order to receive a NYS DMV MV-285 certificate, which permits the holder to schedule a road test with the NYS DMV and obtain a NYS driver’s license.
There will be an additional $35 fee if the original MV-285 is lost and a replacement certificate needs to be issued.
Must be a current Hilton High School student to participate.
Students must provide a copy of a valid NYS DMV Learner’s Permit.

Classroom instruction time and dates: 9-10:30 a.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 29 through August 26. No class on July 6 or July 8.
In-car instruction dates: From June 28 to August 28, students and a parent/guardian instructor will be required to perform 15, 1.5-hour sessions (22.5 total hours) that include driving time and observation time. We will provide a checklist and activities to complete.
Note: Make-up classes will be held on August 31 and September 2, if necessary. A $40 makeup fee will be charged. In-person schedule: Monday, June 28, 3-5 p.m. Student and parent/guardian instructor should appear at the bus loop of the high school. Specific appearance times will be made by appointment. Per New York state guidelines, we will need to verify the parent/guardian driver’s license, auto insurance policy and vehicle inspection date. The parent or student can drive to the appointment.
